Amitabha: Sutra and Vajrayana Views

H.E. Karma Chagme Rinpoche

His Eminence will be presenting his personal teachings of Amitabha. His teachings will focus on devotion and the practice of the four principal causes leading to rebirth in Amitabha's western Pure Land. Amitabha is the primary Buddha from which all the other Buddhas and bodhisattvas, including Avalokitesvara and Tara, emanate. His Pure Land is one of the most important in Buddhism. Through his vows to save all sentient beings and due to his immeasurable compassion, practicing these teachings will ensure rebirth in his Pure Land, thereby ultimately avoiding the distress and suffering of tumbling through the samsaric cycle of the 6 realms of birth and death. The practitioner will also gain immediate and innumerable benefits such as purification, clearing away of obstacles, and boundless compassion. This is a rare opportunity to receive these teachings and empowerment from Karma Chagme Rinpoche, who himself is a living emanation of Avalokitesvara and Amitabha.

Amitabha Prayer (Jangchog Puja) for the Deceased and Living: After the end of the Saturday teachings, the Amitabha Jangchog Puja of purification of the consciousness of both living and deceased ones will be performed for all. Your participation in this cycle of Amitabha teaching or your request to include prayer for beloved ones for their wellbeing in their journeys of life and death will greatly enhanced the benefit of the individuals that you are dedicating for.

H.E. Karma Chagme Rinpoche, the 7th incarnation in his lineage, 'the Avalokiteshvara in reality', is a renowned master in the Kagyu and Nyingma orders of Tibetan Buddhism. He was born in 1926 in Eastern Tibet with many miraculous signs. His Holiness the 16th Karmapa recognized him as the incarnation of the great siddha Khedrub Karma Chagme, and he was enthroned at his main seat, Tashi Choling Monastery in Ngom Neydo, Tibet. In 1984 Rinpoche returned there for the first time since the Chinese occupation, staying two years and restoring parts of the monastery that had been demolished. His Eminence tirelessly gives empowerments and teachings according to the capabilities of the people present. As clearly prophesied, Karma Chagme is the embodiment of the Three Kayas who are Amitabha, Avalokitesvara and Padmasambhava. More...

Bodhicitta (Spirit of Enlightenment)

Ven. Karma Khenchen Rinpoche

Ven. Karma Khenchen Rinpoche will give very beneficial teachings on Bodhicitta, which is important and the basis for any practice in Buddhism. It is said to be the ground, fertilizer, and seed. It is the ground for the cultivation of good karma, the fertilizer by which the Dharma is nourished, and the seed which will ultimately lead to enlightenment. Lacking this quality while practicing Dharma is equivalent to going into battle without any weapons. Bodhicitta is important not only for Buddhist practice. Love and kindness is also crucial throughout daily life, including successful relationships. Rinpoche's teachings will provide the correct understanding of the Buddhist conception and practice of bodhicitta.

The 4th Karma Khenchen Rinpoche, a great scholar and siddha, recognized by His Holiness the 16th Karmapa, was born in 1976. He is an emanation of the Great Abbot Shantarakshita. At the Great Seat of Rumtek Monastery, he was enthroned on a golden throne. In 1987 he went for the first time to his previous seat, the 2nd Great Seat of the Karmapa, Ogmin Karma Gon, in the province of Khan. In 1992 he returned there, visited many monasteries, and gave the empowerment and transmission of the Kagyu Ngag Dzod Chenmo and extensive teachings to many people. He restored several monasteries that had been destroyed, and built three new meditation retreat centers, among other things. All his activities were to the great benefit of the Buddha's teachings and of all beings. By disseminating the Dharma of Sutra and Tantra to all the many disciples who come to him, he fulfills and will continue to fulfill each and all of their hopes. More...
